An Elegant and Sophisticated Patio that is a Natural Extension of the Home
Driving by this Uplands home you would never know the patio extension had been a renovation. The elegant and thoughtful design gave the home a new lease on life with an expansive stone patio that wrapped around the home and was covered by a louvered pergola. It became a natural extension to the home’s living space and allowed the family to move freely from indoor to outdoor living year-round.

Client objectives
Key to this design was to requirement to make the addition look like a natural part of the already beautiful home. The design took cues from the existing building: colours, scale, finishes and proportions were adapted into a plan that naturally extended the patio to complete the space and the home.
project challenges
The louvered pergola allows quick response to changing weather, with seating around the fire pit for warmth. The design addressed areas of wear and rot, rebuilding masonry structures and cladding for a robust and hard-wearing patio space. Replacing sod, upgrading irrigation and improving waterproofing and perimeter drainage gave longevity to this renovation.
